01

Context

This transit authority serves a metropolitan area of several hundred thousand residents with urban bus routes and express lines. Improving the rider experience was at the heart of its strategic plan.

02

Challenge

Published schedules did not reflect actual traffic conditions, especially in winter. Riders had no reliable information about delays, and the customer service centre was flooded with calls during disruptions.

03

Solution

KaySolutions designed a data platform that combines vehicle GPS positions, on-time performance history and weather conditions. A real-time calculation engine derives actual arrival times at every stop.

A bilingual, accessible mobile app delivers these predictions along with personalized alerts on each rider's favourite routes. The data is also published in the open GTFS-realtime format for third-party apps.
